Construction Waste Sorting

Thousands of tonnes of recyclable materials from construction and demolition (C&D) activities are sent to landfill every day. The new EU directive 2008/98/EC requires that by 2020, 70% of these waste streams should be recovered; but current treatment facilities provide only limited scope to sort C&D waste into recyclable fractions.

In addition to presentations from a selection of industry leaders, TITECH will carry out a full-scale trial at the nearby construction  demolition Material Recovery Facility to demonstrate what materials can be recovered from this waste stream.
