TITECH, the world leader in sensor-based sorting systems, will be showing the industry at RWM 2011 why MSW or black-bag Waste has become its fastest growing sector.
Jonathan Clarke, UK Managing Director at TITECH, said: “We have enjoyed success across the world in the use of sensor-based sorting technology for sorting MSW, and it’s now the company’s biggest growth area. Our achievements in this area prove that there is huge scope to recover valuable recyclate from black bag waste, and we’re excited about talking to the industry at RWM 2011 about how this can be achieved.”
TITECH’s work with a revolutionary MRF in Cyprus, where it became one of the first ever countries to recover and recycle residual waste, has led to a flurry of similar projects in Eastern Europe, the USA, Spain and the UK. The new Vallés Occidental facility in Spain (which targets PET, clean and coloured HDPE, Tetrapak and mixed plastics from the mixed waste stream) has led to the closure and restoration of a nearby landfill site – thereby making a major contribution to the goal of reducing waste to landfill.
Another area of growth for TITECH which will be showcased at RWM 2011 is the recovery of copper contaminants – or ‘meatballs’ – from ferrous scrap. There is a growing worldwide market for ferrous scrap, but the increasing level of copper metal in this scrap is presenting a real issue – steel smelters do not want copper contamination in their infeed.
Based upon all its knowledge and expertise in sensor-based materials sorting, TITECH arrived at a solution which significantly reduces contamination and presents the copper as a lucrative additional materials stream. This innovative technology will be on show at RWM 2011 to demonstrate to the industry both its financial and environmental benefits.
TITECH’s team of experts will be available throughout the exhibition to discuss the organisation‘s latest developments, much of which can be accredited to its testing facility in Mühlheim-Kärlich, Germany. The facility, which is the largest of its kind in the industry, allows TITECH to provide an unsurpassed level of support and has proven to be a resounding success after its first year of operation.
