Sensor-based sorting systems provider TITECH has announced a partnership today (October 27) with Austin AI, a US-based manufacturer of Energy Dispersive X-Ray Fluorescence (EDXRF) spectrometric equipment.

The partnership sees Austin AI’s EDXRF technology incorporated into TITECH’s world class sorting systems to provide unsurpassed levels of recycling for metals, plastics, paper, glass and wood.

EDXRF is becoming a favoured analysis methodology due to its rapid sensing speed, high degree of measurement accuracy, low cost of ownership and - most importantly - the ability to sort by material chemistry. The integration of the respective detection and extraction systems will be further enhanced by TITECH’s proprietary software which will heighten the efficiency and effectiveness of the sorting process.

Tom Eng, TITECH’s global sales and marketing director, said: “EDXRF technology will allow us to provide our customers with a greater degree of sorting and recycling capability. We already have the most comprehensive sensor portfolio in the industry and this development will improve our position further.

“We have spent a significant amount of time looking for the right partner and Austin AI is undoubtedly our preferred choice. Combining their technology with our sorting systems and software will unlock further business benefits for our customers through the provision of greater levels of recycling.”

TITECH has pioneered the automation of waste sorting for metal, plastics, glass, paper and wood and is the world leader in its field whilst Austin AI manufactures and markets a complete range of EDXRF spectrometric equipment.

Rick Comtois, president of Austin AI, commented: “We are very pleased to enter into this partnership with TITECH. They have an excellent reputation within the global waste and recycling industry for the quality of their sensor sorting systems and are known for providing a high level of service and technical support.

“The addition of Austin AI’s technology will enhance the company’s ability to further serve their customers. We have one or more established applications for EDXRF in all of the served markets of TITECH. In each case, this will result in additional capabilities to further increase the value of the recoverable asset, or improve the operational efficiency and performance of the customer’s process.

“Since EDXRF is very complementary to TITECH’s wide range of well-established sensor methodologies and applications, the customer can now come to TITECH for all their sensor-sorting based needs.”
