TITECH adds German sorting technology to its portfolio

TITECH, the world’s leading manufacturer of optical sorting technology, has announced a major development in the range of materials that its systems are capable of sorting.

While TITECH systems can already be used in optical recognition and sorting of paper, polymers and beverage cartons, the company can now offer advanced technology for the recognition and sorting of materials such as metals, flame retardants in plastics, plastic and glass flakes, minerals and gems. The combined technologies of both companies will be seen for the first time at the RWM 2007 show in September.

The new capability follows TITECH’s acquisition of German specialists Commodas GmbH last year. Commodas solutions are based on a variety of different technologies such as:
• X-Ray Transmission Imaging which permits separation on an atomic level and can be used to isolate different metals or eject plastics with flame retardants;
• true colour line-scan cameras which can be used for glass and plastic flake sorting; and
• electro-magnetic sensors which provide highly accurate metal recovery and are used in WEEE and scrap metal applications.

Following a period of assimilation, these technologies are now being made available to UK customers through the company’s new subsidiary, TITECH Visionsort Limited, which is based in the Midlands.
